Welcome to DSS GAMES. 


The Director of Operations will coordinate and oversee all operations at DSS GAMES, while managing and mentoring their team members. The specific duties of the position include overseeing the printing of all games, management of inventory, recruiting and hiring of new staff, and the coordinating of various work with the Company’s bookkeeper, Accountant and Attorney

Reports To: PARTNERS

Direct Reports: Operations Coordinator, Production Coordinator, and Sales & Operations Assistant 

 

Exempt, full-time position with benefits


Operations & Systems – 40%

  • Develop and refine company-wide systems for how the Company conducts its business 
  • Monitor existing Company processes and analyze their effectiveness
  • Formulate strategic and operational objectives for the Company to improve overall productivity, efficiency and quality assurance
  • Document and publish new and revised procedures and systems for the Company to follow to insure best practices
  • Manage company-wide budgets and forecasts 

Production – 20%

  • Oversee timely printing and delivery of product at or below budget
  • Oversee timely shipping of product to retailers and distributors world-wide 
  • Work through high-level production issues with printers
  • Working with Production Coordinator, negotiate print pricing with sign-off from Partners
  • Manage current relationships with printers and various suppliers  
  • Identify new printers and suppliers for the Company 

    Inventory Management – 15%

    • Oversee systems to manage inventory world-wide to insure proper inventory levels on all products at all times
    • Create sustainable systems to effectively manage inventory
    • With input from sales, propose re-prints to Partners in a timely manner to maintain stock levels
    • Manage working relationships with distributors word-wide


    HR – 15%

    • Oversee recruiting and hiring process company-wide 
    • Manage onboarding of new hires 
    • Working with Partners, develop and implement policies to grown and continually improve company culture
    • Handle employee issues working with Partners  
    • Ensure company handbook, benefits sheet and any other HR documents are current


    Accounting & Legal - 10%

    • Oversee tax-related compliance with various government agencies worldwide 
    • Manage off-site Company bookkeeper
    • Point person to Company’s Accountant for the filing of government tax returns and the like 
    • Point person to Company’s trademark attorney for the filing and maintenance of trademarks 


    Requirements 

  • College graduate 
  • 6+ years relevant operations experience
  • Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple projects
  • Outstanding organizational and coordination abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Great at managing people and delegating 
  • Comfortable in small, casual office environment

  • Preferred 

  • Some experience with manufacturing
  • Experience managing inventory levels in multiple locations

    Welcome to DSS GAMES. 

     

    As our EDITORIAL MANAGER you will be responsible for the development and delivery of all editorial work on new games published by the Company as you work with and manage various freelancers. The EDITORIAL MANAGER oversees, as project manager, these same new games from conception through to finished files. This position also involves setting up and managing a system of play testing and product review of new titles in development. 

     

    Exempt, full-time position with benefits 

     

    Reports To: CREATIVE DIRECTOR 

     

    Editorial Development – 50% 

    • Oversee development and delivery of all editorial for all new games working with partners, freelance writers, playtesters etc. 
    • Help write initial sample content for new projects working with Creative Director ● Synthesize playtest notes into clear feedback on how to improve revised content ● Working with Creative Director, edit and refine game content, game rules and package copy 
    • Work with writers as they work through rounds of content giving them feedback and direction 
    • Propose and write copy for game packaging and marketing materials

     

    Project Management – 25% 

    • Oversee and ensure timely completion of all new games in production from initial concept to finished files 
    • Manage freelance writers working on new games, and cultivate new writers ● Manage freelance copy editors working on new games, and cultivate new editors ● Manage freelance designers, and cultivate new designers 
    • Lead weekly production meetings for titles in production 
    • Ensure project files are up to date and properly stored
    • Develop and refine systems, working with Operations Manager, to ensure best practices are in place 
    • Manage editorial schedules for all new titles in development 

     

    Play-Testing/Product Review – 15% 

    • Develop, implement and publish systems by which all games in development will be fully play-tested and reviewed 
    • Source groups to playtest and review games in development as well as new ideas for games. 
    • Manage playtest/product review events 
    • Compile and review playtest/product review results with Creative Director and others 

     

    Creative Development – 10% 

    • Working with Creative Director and others, refine games in development as well as new ideas for games. 
    • Contribute to New Idea meetings 
    • Work with Creative Director to refine new ideas for games 
    • Manage and maintain a “New Ideas” list for possible new games 
    • Prepare materials, as needed, for playesting of select new ideas for games. 

     

    Minimum qualifications: 

    • College graduate 
    • 4 years relevant editorial experience 
    • Experience managing freelancers 
    • Skilled editor 
    • Experienced project manager 

     

    Preferred qualifications: 

    • Creative thinker 
    • Enjoys playing social games

    PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

    As the Production Coordinator you will be the liaison between DSS and our network of printers internationally and domestically. You will see projects all the way through from receiving files from Editorial to handing off finished inventory to Sales to be shipped. 

     

    Reports To: DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS 

     

    Exempt, full-time position with benefits 

     

    Production - 100% 

    • Oversee our network of printers (both domestically & internationally) to ensure the quality development of our products 
    • Point person for all printing related issues 
    • Collaborate with Operations and Partners to spec out new products 
    • Communicate frequently with the Sales & Operations assistant to meet timelines for the on time delivery of our products to customers 
    • Work with Sales & Operations assistant to confirm print quantities/overs for the accuracy of inventory levels 
    • Set up new game files with printers 
    • Review rounds of proofs and dummies from printers before going to press ● Source new printing partners domestically & internationally 
    • Work with freelance designers on making any revisions to files prior to being handed off to printers

    As the Social Media Content Creator Intern you will be an integral part of our marketing efforts for our new and existing titles. You will work directly with the marketing managers to execute original, relevant and viral social media content.
     
    Reports To: Marketing Manager
     
    Non-Exempt, part-time PAID position. 
    *DSS Games is headquartered in Santa Monica, CA but is currently practicing work from home daily operations. This role will be virtual/remote.
     
    Social Media Content Creation
    • Concept, Shoot, Edit high quality videos, gifs, etc for social media channels
    • Channels include but are not limited to: Instagram, TikTok, Youtube
    • Individual must be highly creative and current on social media trends
     
    Other
    • Admin as needed
    • Opportunity for growth into additional areas of channel management, influencer marketing, ad campaigns, and more.
     
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Enrolled in College
    • Versed in Instagram, TikTok, Youtube social media channels
    • Excellent short form video creator and editor
    • Excellent communicator and self-starter 
     
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Animation and special effects a bonus
    • General graphic design and photoshop skills also welcome
